The Tour of Mull 2008
The Subaru Impreza Group N, sponsored by Vital achieved a finish of 26th overall, out of a field of 160 starters. The Tour of Mull is one of only two events in the U.K. held on closed public roads and is run over two days, covering 150 competitive miles.
The rally, which attracts entries from all over the U.K., including Wales and Ireland, is in its 39th year.Driver Grant Fleming and co-driver Fergus Loudon began the rally in 74th place and following a good initial run on the Friday night-time section, were re-seeded to 41st for the Saturday afternoon event.
Conditions were good and at service, the only job for the service crew was to replace the front discs and pads. Good form continued and resulted in a start for the Saturday night section in 34th place.
Some rain hampered the initial night-time stages which resulted in very slippery conditions and some accidents and attrition. However, the 'Vital' car powered home in 26th place - an excellent effort from all concerned!
