The Vital Services Group was founded in Manchester by John Smith, current CEO, in 1983. Initially a design consultancy and a professional and technical recruitment business the group has evolved to encompass contracting businesses across many industry sectors.

Each development of the company’s resource base has been carefully chosen to create synergies and complement our core offering. Rail, Civils, Construction, Power and Technology all work seamlessly together to provide our clients with a uniquely tailored solution. 

Since its inception Vital Resources has grown steadily to become one of the largest suppliers of recruitment-associated services and labour to some of the world's leading industry contractors.

  • Name: Craig Sutcliffe

  • Managing Director

Joined the Group in 1996 from a specialist electrical contractor where he operated in both a commercial and business development capacity; he became Managing Director of Vital Resources in 2004 after a series of local and regional group roles. He now has overall responsibility for operational issues, sits on the main board where his focus is growth of the group.

Joined the group in 1996 from an engineering support business to open and establish Vital Resources in the Midlands and South West / South Wales. He became a Director of Vital Resources in 2003, responsible for all operational matters within his region.  He now has a national overview; sitting with the other regional directors to agree overall strategy.

Joined the Group in 1990 and progressed from Recruitment Manager to Business Development Manager and then on to Director of Vital Resources in 2000. Mike is responsible for London and South East Region and has collective responsibility for developing business nationally with his co Directors.
